Canadian court slams Trudeau for overreaching in quelling truckers' protests

The Federal Court of Canada ruled that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's use of emergency legislation to quell the 'freedom convoy' protests in Ottawa was unjustified. The court stated that there was no national emergency warranting the invocation of the Emergencies Act. Trudeau’s government, for its part, said its invocation of the act was necessary because the protests had turned into an illegal occupation.
