Haiti declares state of emergency as violence escalates

Haiti's government declared a state of emergency on Sunday, following violent skirmishes in the capital that resulted in two prison breakouts as a prominent gang leader attempted to remove Prime Minister Ariel Henry. Digicel chairman Maarten Boute stated that their lines were disrupted owing to ongoing street unrest in sections of the capital.
