Philippines urges China to allow scrutiny of disputed South China Sea shoal

The Philippines challenged China on Monday to allow international scrutiny of Scarborough Shoal because it accused Beijing of damaging the marine environment of the shoal. Maritime tension has been increasing in the South China Sea between Manila and Beijing. The Philippines has accused China of using water cannon and obstructing movements through disputed shoals and reefs.
