US President Donald Trump is resisting calls to order a nationwide lockdown to stem the spread of coronavirus.

Mr Trump's refuses to implement such restrictions despite his administration's projections that tens of thousands of Americans are likely to be killed by the disease.

US states, however, are increasingly implementing their own shutdown orders.
