Local officers visit little boy on his birthday after party cancelled

A little boy who had his birthday party cancelled was over the moon when police officers paid him a visit to make him smile again.Ethan Lewington turned six years old yesterday (17) but sadly could not spend time with his friends due to lockdown restrictions. He had planned to celebrate his birthday with his friends at indoor play centre Go Bananas but instead found himself stuck at home in Stroud, Gloucestershire. The birthday boy has always dreamed of becoming a police officer, and with that in mind, his dad Ryan Muggleton, 26, hatched a secret plan.Painter and decorator Ryan called upon their local police force who pulled out all the stops to make this little boy's birthday feel special given the circumstances.Hearing the sound of sirens outside his house, young Ethan dashed outside to see a police car pulling up right in front of their front door.Proud dad Ryan filmed the moment two police officers exit the police car just to chat to Ethan and wish him a happy birthday, making the little boy jump up and down with excitement. The police officers can be heard talking to Ethan and his brother Harrison, three, about the birthday boy's presents in the heartwarming clip.Ryan said: "Ethan was so upset that his party had been cancelled and that he couldn't see any of his friends on his birthday."He has found lockdown really hard.

He misses his friends and just wants to go back to school - he's been doing so well this past year, he's top of the class. "Ethan decided he wanted to join the police about a year ago, he said he just wants to help everyone out."I called Stroud police station in the morning to see if they could help make Ethan's day a bit more special for him."They rang me later that day to say they were just leaving the police station and then next thing I knew, they were outside the house."Ethan was so happy to see them and the police officers were so lovely, especially with all this Covid-19 going on as well."My boy was over the moon and he said it has made him want to be a police officer even more."It just shows what amazing police we really do have."
