California schools preparing for budget cuts

California schools must prepare to do more with less.

That's the message educators are receiving from the state capitol.

The revised state budget put for by governor newsom would cut funding for california school districts by nearly 7 billion dollars.

Action news now talked with the paradise school superintendent about the proposed cuts.

He says the costs of opening schools next year will likely be*mor*, than in the past, and since the camp fire the district has already had to slash costs.

And... with fewer students*an* teachers... the district is smaller, meaning less revenue.

The superintendent says adminsitrators are looking at which areas could be cut... including the possiblity of jobs.

Sot tom taylor superintendent: it because when you look at a district the majority is spent on staffing so we know that where the majority of reduction come from.

We look at how we save money how to we convert things to solar energy how do we reduce costs like that .

Taylor says he hopes staff-cuts will not become a reality.
