Dr. Deborah Birx is the lead coordinator of the White House coronavirus task force.
According to Business Insider, she expressed her concern on Friday about lingering outbreaks in three major US cities.
Specifically, Dr. Birx named Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, DC.
Despite the rising novel coronavirus COVID-19 cases, all three cities have been running full bore at reopening as soon as possible.
Birx said at the news briefing that Washington, DC and its suburbs have the highest rate of positive coronavirus tests in the country.
LA and Chicago also continue to report high daily case counts.
