An elderly woman, living with her two grandchildren at a rented house in Ludhiana and facing financial hardships due to COVID-19 pandemic, had urged Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for financial assistance.
Now the CM has directed Ludhiana administration to help the family going through financial crisis.
Singh has directed authorities to pay her pending and advance house rent for a year and provide free treatment for tuberculosis.
Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Pratap Singh Bajwa bashed Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on his letter to Chandigarh DGP saying, 'CM and Punjab DGP are responsible for any harm caused to my safety.' Pratap Bajwa said, "I want to ask Captain Amarinder Singh if he believes in democracy. You are democratically elected CM and not maharaja of Patiala."
Congress Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa on hooch tragedy in Punajb that claimed over 100 lives demanded a CBI or ED investigation. Partap Bajwa said, "CM Captain Amarinder Singh has Excise and Taxation, Home department police under him. All fingers are being raised at excise department. If justice has to be given to 121 people who died in hooch tragedy then an investigation should be done by CBI or ED." If future of Congress has to be saved then we need to change the leadership in the state." Congress leader Bajwa added.
E-vehicles manufacturers in Ludhiana welcomed Transport Ministry's decision allowing electric vehicle manufacturers to sell and get vehicles registered without pre-fitted batteries. Amandeep Singh, AGM E-bike, Avon Cycle said, "Sales will increase but GST on battery should be reduced."
An avid coin collector in Punjab's Ludhiana has a treasure of ancient coins. His vast collection includes coins dating back to Delhi Sultanate to Mughal Empire. Kewal Singh Rana is famous in Punjab for his enthusiasm to collect coins. A 23-year-old man from Punjab's Gurdaspur has been allegedly killed in Canada. Surajdeep Singh went to Canada's Brampton city three years ago on student visa. His family members mourned his death in Batala city of Punjab. Speaking to ANI, one of the deceased relative said, "We got a phone call at around 05:00 informing that some miscreants attacked on Surajdeep with an intention of loot while he was coming back from Gurudwara Sahib. He got injured in the attack and lost his life in the incident."
