- the city of biloxi is welcoming- back its community- farmers market festival series- tommorrow after a short - hiatus because of covid.- news 25's grace boyles has more- details from biloxi.- - in another step toward- normalcy during the covid-19- pandemic, a summer staple in- downtown biloxi returns thursda- - the community - farmers market festival.- kay miller, biloxi main street- executive director: "we've been doing these for many- years now and it's just getting- back to normal and, uh, just- doing things that we usually, - - - - typically do, but doing it- safely at the same time."

May's farmers market festival - was cancelled due to safety - - - - precautions, the market has - already been open for a while - due to popular demand.- kay miller, biloxi main street- executive director: "the farmer market really only was- not working for one week.

There- was such a public outcry for th- farmers to come back- - - - and for people to be able to go- outdoors and buy things that- they needed that-- the- farmers market has been going - the entire time."

While the market may have been- up and running, it's not the- same as - the farmers market festivals.

- kay miller, biloxi main street- executive director: "what we ad to the farmers- market festivals is, uh, we hav- entertainment.

We'll have table- - - - set up so -- we usually cook- hamburgers and hot dogs, but we- decided that we woud- encourage people to go downtown- and pick something up and bring- it and sit down at- our tables and listen to the- entertainment."

Grace boyles, news 25: "besides getting fresh produce and - supporting local- businesses, another incentive - for going to the biloxi - community farmers market- festival is the hourly- giveaways, all of which are - donated by vendors."

Kay miller, biloxi main street- executive director: "we give away outdoor prizes - every fifteen minutes.

So you - don't have to come and stay - long, uh, to be eligible to - win some of the prizes."

Additionally, biloxi main stree- will be selling - greetings from biloxi mural t-- shirts and notecards to - help local stores and - restaurants.- kay miller, biloxi main street- executive director: "it's a really nice, soft t-shirt.

So,- something fun and something to- help our downtown businesses- during this time."

The farmers market will continu- to be open every- tuesday and thursday from 9 am- to 1pm.

- upcoming dates for the festival- series are june 25th, july 16th- - - - september 24th, and october - 29th.
