Forest officials rescue bear that fell into dry 20-foot-well in central India

A bear fell into a dried up 20-foot-well in central India and had to be rescued by forest officials using a wooden rope ladder.

The incident took place in a village near Kanker in Chhattisgarh state on July 16, when local people discovered the bear and immediately called forest officials.

The officials set up nets around the well to corral the bear back into the woods, then lowered a rope ladder for it to climb out.

The villagers claimed the bear was attracted towards the scent of guava, and might have come in search for it at night when it fell inside the well in the dark.
