Today - those that play fall sports finally some good news.

The division one board of directors approved a blanket waiver to give all fall student athletes an extra year of eligibility regardless if they compete or not this academic year.

This comes after a recommendation from the division one council the board also said it will work towards holding a "scaled back" version of fall sports championships in the spring should conditions allow.

This means that all division one student-athletes who are not able to compete -those who are - and those who opt-out of competition this year will all retain a year of eligibility and an additional year to compete in their sport.

Schools are also prohibited from canceling or reducing athletic scholarships for any athlete that decides not to participate this year due to covid-19.

Regarding fall sports championships in the spring - acting board chair and texas state presiden denise trauth said: "we want to provide opportunities for student- athletes whenever possible.

We understand it will be complicated and different, and we're not certain how it will look.

But we believe it's important to try to give students that championship experience."

Locally - colgate university fall sports were postponed by the patriot league.
