The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Depression 19 is expected to become a named tropical storm over the Gulf of Mexico. According to CNN, Tropical Storm Sally is now the 18th named storm of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season. Sally has already brought heavy rain and gusty winds to Florida Saturday as the storm moved into the Gulf of Mexico. Flood watches are in effect through Sunday for areas of Florida's west coast.
A new Washington Post/ABC News poll is bad news for Joe Biden. The poll has Pres. Donald Trump narrowly ahead Joe Biden in Florida and Arizona among likely voters. The poll was conducted September 15-20. It found Trump ahead by 4 points in Florida (51%-47%) and 1 point in Arizona (49%-48%) among likely voters. According to Forbes, the Post/ABC News poll is a high quality survey.
Mississippi man Curtis Flowers was tried for the same 1996 quadruple murder six times. He spent nearly two dozen years behind bars and was sentenced to death four times. Now, Curtis Flowers is officially free. Newser reports Flowers was released on bail in December, after the US Supreme Court overturned his most recent conviction. Until January, the same prosecutor, Doug Evans, had attended to Flowers' case through all six trials. Evans recused himself from the case earlier this year.
