Apartment complex saved from Almeda Drive Fire

Newswatch 12's samantha didion spoke with those mangers earlier today.

Sam says : "from here this apartment complex looks untouched by the almeda drive fire; but if we take a 180 and look across the street, we are able to see the damage this fire truly caused."

Managers of anjou club said the fire made its way down the road until it was directly across the street.

The maintenance manager said he watched as strong winds brought the fire to the front and around the back of the complex -- catching parts of the property on fire.

Mangers say they left their sprinklers on as they evacuated and think that protected the apartments after firefighters had moved on.

Celeste says: "keeping the sprinkler going all through the year, like making sure the grass is always green.

Just that humidity that surrounds anjou club was so strong and hopefully that helped them in their job that they had to do."
