The measure comes as the number of daily cases continues to increase in the country.

On Thursday France recorded 18,129 new COVID-19 cases.

Footage filmed by @boudimir on October 8 shows packed trains with commuters, all wearing masks, standing over each other.

The clip was filmed on the RER B train in the Paris region.
