Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said on Nov 27 that people like Kangana Ranaut are trying to turn Courts arena into a political rivalry.
"Everyone is surprised that an actress who lives in Himachal, comes here and calls our Mumbai 'PoK' such 'do takke ke log' want to turn Court's arena into a political rivalry, it's wrong," said Kishori Pednekar.

If today I talk about the country, nationalism, farmers or laws which directly affect me, I'm told that I want to become a politician. They ask why do I talk about nationalism, why am I so concerned to talk about farmer’s law. They have a problem with that. (When they want to talk about issues) They can say whatever they want, but how dare I speak? They were so hurt and pained,’ Kangana said. Union health minister Harsh Vardhan hit out at state governments seeking widening of the Covid-19 vaccine net amid a surge in infections. He accused governments of states like Maharashtra and Delhi of playing politics, instead of administering vaccines comprehensively among people currently eligible. He also dismissed claims of vaccine shortage by Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar. Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray had recently written to PM Narendra Modi seeking expansion of vaccine net to include those aged 25 and above in order to cover the 'young, working' population. Mumbai Mayor said that there is a shortage of Covid-19 vaccine doses in the city. Kishori Pednekar added that vaccine supplies in Mumbai will be over in three days. The Mayor's statement comes amid a continuous surge in Covid cases in Maharashtra. “Maharashtra CM and Health Minister requested Centre for supply of vaccines. Around 1,76,000 doses were available on April 6, city will require more vaccines,” Pednekar said. The financial capital has been one of the worst-hit cities across the country. Mumbai reported more than 10,000 fresh Covid positive cases in the last 24 hours.

Amid continuous surge in COVID cases in Maharashtra, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar on April 07 said that there is a shortage of COVID-19 vaccine doses in the city. She said that 1,76,000 vaccine doses were available on April 06 and in coming days the city will require more vaccines. Mumbai remains the worst-hit capital city as compared to others in India. The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the petitions filed by the Maharashtra government and its former home minister Anil Deshmukh challenging the Bombay High Court order directing a preliminary enquiry by the CBI into the allegations of corruption and misconduct levelled against him by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh. The bench in its order stated, "Nature of allegations and personas involved needs an enquiry by an independent agency. It is a matter of public confidence. We are not inclined to entertain this. dismissed." "They are closely working together till they fall apart, both holding a particular position. Then should the CBI not investigate?" the bench asked. Soon after the Bombay HC directed the CBI to conduct a preliminary inquiry within 15 days into the corruption allegations against Anil Deshmukh. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh resigned on Monday hours. Anil Deshmukh’s resignation from the post of Maharashtra home minister has triggered a fresh wave of turmoil in the ruling Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi. However, if sources are to be believed, the NCP already has a leader lined up to replace Anil Deshmukh. Dilip Walse Patil, the current minister for labour, and excise, will most likely replace Anil Deshmukh as Maharashtra home minister.

Soon after Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, state minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik informed that Anil Deshmukh no more wanted to remain in his post. "After the high court order, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh met Pawar Ji and party leaders and said he doesn't want to remain in the post because the inquiry will be there. He went to tender his resignation to the CM. Party has requested to the CM to accept his resignation," said Nawab Malik. Anil Deshmukh's resignation comes amid corruption allegations by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. In his resignation letter to Maharashtra CM, Home Minister said he doesn't find it morally correct to continue as the home minister after Bombay High Court's order.
Four-day Covid-19 vaccine festival ‘Tika Utsav’ began in the country on April 11. It’s being observed with an aim to inoculate maximum number of eligible people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made the call for vaccine festival during his meeting with Chief Ministers. People arrived at inoculation centres in Delhi to receive the Covid vaccine jab. People remained indoors, streets were deserted, shops were closed as Mumbai administration imposed weekend lockdown. Due to surge in COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, the state government taking precautionary measures to mitigate the spread. Only essential services such as vegetable, fruit shops and milk booths are open. The weekend lockdown will continue till Monday morning 7am. In last 24 hours, Mumbai reported 9,327 new COVID-19 cases.
Delhi Police has arrested one ganja supplier Krishan Jha. Accused Krishan Kha was involved in supplying ganja in various parts of the capital.In the month of February this year, one Shashi Bhushan was arrested with the recovery of illegal ganja weighing around 8 Kg. During interrogation, accused Shashi Bhushan disclosed that he was a carrier and the recovered illegal ganja belonged to Krishan Jha and Vikas. The efforts were made to nab both of them but they evaded their arrest. Hence, Non-bailable warrant against both of them was issued by the Court. After strenuous efforts, the accused was arrested from his hide out in Najafgarh, Delhi. During sustained interrogation, Krishan Jha disclosed that Vikas supplied ganja to him. Further efforts are being made to nab the co-accused Vikas, who is still absconding.
There is no restriction on tourists coming to Himachal Pradesh, government will monitor COVID-19 situation in the state, informed Chief Minister Jairam Thakur on April 10 . "Tourism and hotel industry contribute 7% in GDP of Himachal Pradesh. Around 2 crore tourists have been coming here. Businesses suffered during COVID-19. They started picking up but another wave has hit. There is no restriction on tourists. We will monitor situation," said CM Thakur in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
