Amid farmers protest in India against new agriculture laws, Samajwadi party chief Akhilesh Yadav on November 28 said that treating farmers with such dereliction has never been done by any party except BJP, who actions against the protesting farmers such as lathi charge are "unprecedented".

These are the same people who had told farmers that they would not only waive loans but would bring in policies which would double farmers' income," said Yadav as large numbers of farmers, mainly from Punjab, have begun a 'Delhi Chalo' protest to intensify their demonstration against the three new farms laws.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday. Taking to Twitter, Adityanath said he is in self-isolation and doing tasks virtually. On Tuesday, the CM isolated himself after some staffers in his office tested positive. Development comes shortly after the UP CM wrapped up his campaign for Bengal polls. Adityanath took the first jab of COVID-19 vaccine on April 05 at a Civil Hospital in Lucknow. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has tested positive for coronavirus. Yadav had recently visited Haridwar where Kumbh Mela is underway & met religious leaders. Uttar Pradesh urban development minister Ashutosh Tandon has also tested positive. UP govt has already announced restrictions on gatherings of people in view of Covid. Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday reported highest-ever single-day spike of 18,021 cases and 85 deaths. Adityanath govt has also imposed a night curfew in districts with over 500 active cases.

Ahead of Assembly elections for phase III in West Bengal, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan held a roadshow in Tollygunge supporting TMC candidate Aroop Biswas. SP led by its chief Akhilesh Yadav has pledged support to the TMC for the ongoing assembly elections in West Bengal.

After an all-party meeting with Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal Aariz Aftab on April 16, the BJP leader Sawapan Dasgupta said that they have advised the Election Commission to balance robust democratic culture with safety norms.
