Ahead of Republic Day, Delhi Police Commissioner S N Shrivastava on Saturday held a review meeting in which he also took stock of the arrangements at farmers' agitation sites to maintain law and order, officials said. In the meeting held with senior officers, the police chief took stock of anti-terrorism measures as well as action taken against criminals involved in various cases, including burglary, violation of the Excise Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and gambling cases, they said. Amid rising cases of suicide in the last few weeks, an NGO has taken the initiative of organising counseling sessions for protesting farmers at Singhu border (Delhi-Haryana Border). US-based NGO, United Sikhs has started counselling the farmers, who are falling prey to anxiety and depression.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated air taxi services on Thursday. The air taxi service was launched from Chandigarh to Hisar under the UDAN scheme of the Central government. Khattar informed that air services would also start from Hisar to Dehradun in the second phase, while in the third phase two more routes will be added. "These air taxis will be four-seaters and have a speed limit of 250 km/hour. For the first time in the country, a small aircraft in the form of an air taxi is being used for services," the CM said. He added, "In the second phase, services for Hisar to Dehradun will be started on January 18. In the third phase, two more routes from Chandigarh to Dehradun and Hisar to Dharamshala will be added on January 23."

India's first air taxi services were inaugurated in Haryana on January 14. State Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today inaugurated the service at Chandigarh Airport. The services will start from Chandigarh to Hisar under UDAN scheme of Central Government. "For the first time in the country, a small aircraft in the form of air taxi is being used for services. In 2nd phase, services for Hisar to Dehradun will be started on January 18. In the 3rd phase, two more routes from Chandigarh to Dehradun and Hisar to Dharamshala will be added on January 23," said CM while speaking to media persons. The company also plans to include Shimla, Kullu and more Haryana routes.
IPS Ranvir Singh Krishnia took charge as the Director-General of Police (DGP) of Puducherry. He succeeded Balaji Srivastava, who has been transferred to New Delhi after 1.5 years' long stint in the Union Territory. Krishnia called on Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi at her respective office. Krishnia belongs to 1989 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS) in the AGMUT cadre. He had served in various capacities in different states. With a heavy heart, Lieutenant Governor Bedi bid adieu to Balaji Srivastava. During Srivastava's period Rowdyism and Land grabbing came under strict control in the Union Territory.
Malappuram District received COVID-19 vaccines, ahead of pan-India vaccination drive. The first consignment of Covishield also arrived at Leh. So far, several states including Karnataka, New Delhi, Telangana, Bihar and Tamil Nadu have received the vaccine. First phase of COVID vaccination is scheduled to begin from Jan 16.
A consignment of COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield arrived at Jammu airport from Serum Institute of India, Pune on January 13. Covishield vaccines were shifted to the storage rooms. Kanpur also received its Covisheild consignment today. Soon after arriving at the Kanpur airport, vaccines were shifted to city's storage centres. SII had dispatched vaccines across India on January 12. So far several states including Karnataka, New Delhi, Telangana, Bihar and Tamil Nadu have received the Covisheild vaccine. First phase of COVID vaccination is scheduled to begin from Jan 16.
