In a joint effort, ITBP personnel and SDRF managed to remove obstacles from the front of lake to widen the flow of water. Water from the lake, formed due to the disaster, is now being discharged with good force and speed downstream. Teams working towards widening the flow of water were equipped with mountaineering equipments. From past 7 days, 5 feet reduction in the water level of Lake on Rishi Ganga was observed. A glacier burst in Chamoli district led to the calamity which claimed more than 100 lives.
Rescue ops continued in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli following the February 7 glacial disaster. So far, rescuers have recovered at least 70 bodies while several others are still missing. ITBP, SDRF continued to remove trees and boulders from the lake formed after glacier burst. Experts have inspected the site, while a constant vigil is being maintained on the lake. On Wednesday night, excavation work was carried out at the Tapovan tunnel in Chamoli. Water was pumped out of the tunnel and excavation up to 180 meters was complete. The devastating flash flood demolished a 13.2 MW hydel project along the river. It caused extensive damage to NTPC's Tapovan-Vishnugad hydel project along Dhauliganga.

Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei defeated Eastern Sporting Union (ESU) team 3-2 in an entertaining final match to clinch the title of the '11th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial Football Tournament' organised by 143 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at SAI Sports Complex, Imphal on February 28. The tournament was organised in memory of late assistant commandant Manoranjan Singh who made the supreme sacrifice while encountering Naxalites in Chhattisgarh in 2009. Both the finalists started the game cautiously and canceled out attempts from the opposing ends until, Eastern Sporting Union Team (ESU) found the breakthrough in the 28th minute off a fine strike by Thumsol Tongsin. The runners up team, ESU received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 1, 50,000. Third-placed, Classic FA and fourth-placed, WAFA, Wangoi were respectively feted with cash prizes of Rs 35,000 and Rs 15,000 besides trophies. The ceremony was also attended by Ng Memcha, mother of Shaheed Manoranjan Singh; Randeep Datta PMG, IGP, MandN Sector CRPF; senior officers of state administration, Army, Police, CAPFs among others. The tournament saw participation of 28 teams from across the state.
The Indian Air Force carried out a long range precision strike against a practice target to mark the second anniversary of the Balakot Operations. The strike was carried out by members of the same squadron who carried out the actual operations inside Pakistan in response to the Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed. IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria also flew a multi aircraft sortie with the units to commemorate the occasion along with the squadron pilots. 'Balakot Air Strike', was the first aerial assault carried out by India in Pakistan after the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Balakot Air Strike was carried out as a reply to Pulwama attack that claimed lives of 40 CRPF officials. Second anniversary of the Balakot Operations was marked on February 26.

The 'bhoomi poojan' ceremony of the Central Vista Avenue was performed by Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs here at India Gate on Thursday. With this ceremony, the work has started for the development and redevelopment of Central Vista Avenue. The Central Vista Avenue starting from North and South Block to India Gate, which includes the Rajpath, its adjoining lawns and canals, rows of tree, Vijay Chowk and the India Gate plaza, is a 3 km long stretch. The government has decided to refurbish and improve the avenue, as part of the comprehensive transformation of Central Vista. The government approved a proposal for the development of Central Vista Avenue with an estimated cost of Rs 608 crores. Moreover, the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has been entrusted to carry out this important work. The components of development work under Phase-I include refurbishing of Landscaping and lawns. Green cover being increased from 3,50,000 sqm to about 3,90,000 sqm, proper public amenities with toilets, drinking water facilities and vending area are being provided at 10 locations for visitors and tourists, among others.
Israeli ambassador to India, Ron Malka asserted that there is full cooperation between New Delhi and Tel Aviv to investigate the explosion. He suspected that Friday's blast outside the Israeli Embassy in Delhi could be a terror attack. He added that his country has full trust in Indian authorities. A low-intensity explosion took place near the Israel Embassy on Friday. No injuries were reported in the incident, however, windscreens of several cars parked in the vicinity of the Embassy on Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road were found damaged. The explosion took place not far from Vijay Chowk, where several VVIPS including Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were in attendance during the 'Beating Retreat' ceremony.
