Following the recent delivery of million doses of COVID-19 vaccine from India on grant, Nepal is expected to begin an inoculation drive against the infection from next week.With the announcement of this valuable vaccination drive starting in next ten days, Nepal's Minister of Health and Population Hridayesh Tripathi requested India for continued support to deliver adequate numbers of vaccines to the Himalayan Nation to inoculate 72 percent of nearly 3 million population.
Reacting to the political crises of Nepal, former Nepal Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai said that it is not right for a country's democracy when Parliament is dissolved midway to give way to instability. "Nepal is going through crisis. Nepal Communist Party that had formed govt with a majority is almost divided into two factions," said Baburam Bhattarai while speaking to ANI on March 02. He further said that they will talk to all parties in Nepal to bring stability, economic development and ensure that India-Nepal relations are good.
India provided COVID-19 vaccines to Saint Lucia on March 01. 'Made in India' vaccines was received by the Prime Minister Allen Chastanet of Saint Lucia. India provided 25,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine to the island nation Saint Lucia. The consignment of coronavirus vaccine reached under India's 'Vaccine Maitri' initiative. The 40,000 doses of 'Made in India' coronavirus vaccines also arrived in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It was received by Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves on March 01. They received Serum Institute of India (SII)'s Covishield doses today. Earlier, India supplied COVID-19 vaccines to neighbouring countries Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh under the 'Neighbourhood First' policy.
The restoration work of Seto Macchindranath Temple, one of the 28 heritage sites which will be reconstructed with the help of India's assistance, has begun on Sunday in Kathmandu. Indian Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra along with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Sushil Gyawali and Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Bidya Sundar Shakya jointly carried out 'Bhoomi Pooja' for the restoration of Seto Machindranath temple. The conservation work of Seto Machindranath temple is the first of the 28 cultural heritage conservation and restoration projects being undertaken by the Indian government. New Delhi has committed a sum of 580 crores for cultural heritage sector. All the 28 sites were identified by Nepal Government and both India and Nepal signed Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) in August 2017. The Seto Machindranath Temple will be conserved as per Nepal's Ancient Monument Preservation Act, and the Department of Archaeology's Basic Guidelines and Manual for conservation and reconstruction of heritage affected by the 2015 earthquake using material close to the original building material at the time of its construction as per the traditional ethos, local traditions, and values that sustain and enriches such living heritage sites in Nepal. The temple located in the heart of Kathmandu city is visited by Hindus and Buddhist devotees to worship Seto Machindranath are considered to be one of the Protectors of the Kathmandu Valley.

The UK will examine European Union proposals for a vaccine passport in the hope of reviving international travel for the summer holidays.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock said Britain was working with the EU and countries around the world on the issue.

Phase 2 of India's Covid-19 vaccination drive was launched in high-profile manner on March 1 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi becoming one of the first beneficiaries. The second phase of the programme involves inoculation of those aged 60 and above, and those aged 45+ with comorbidities. The process for registration involves entry of mobile number and identity card details on the government's dedicated Co-win platform. As the vaccination drive has already been kicked off in the Himalayan nation, the inoculation drive for elderly and most vulnerable age groups will commence from next month. Nepal has received the first batch of one million COVISHIELD Vaccine developed by Serum Institute of India on Sunday via Air India flight. The vaccines would be used to inoculate people above 60 years of age, which is 8.73 per cent of Nepal's population, in the vaccination drive that will begin on March 7. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, there are 2,652,258 elderly people above 60 years in the country. On January 21st 2021, Nepal had received a total of One Million COVISHIELD Vaccine from India under grant assistance.
The first high dam on the Yamuna is scheduled to come up at Lakhwar in Dehradun and Tehri in Uttarakhand after the Union environment ministry’s expert appraisal committee recommended the 300MW Lakhwar Multipurpose Project for environmental clearance in its December 2 meeting last year. Residents of Lohari village along the Yamuna are both happy and anxious about the project. The Lakhwar Project is contentious as it will impact a large forest area.
