While speaking to ANI in Patna on February 26, the former deputy chief minister of Bihar, Sushil Kumar Modi spoke on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 'North-South' remark. Modi said, "He (Rahul Gandhi) gives justification and Robert Vadra stands in his support and say he hasn't said it. When he (Rahul) visits north-east, he says something against north. When he visits south, he says something against north." "This is why Congress is being swept off from the country. He thinks it will benefit him in Kerala but he is wrong. He won't be benefitted by the politics of instigating one state against the other," he added.
Popular Tamil comedian Vivek died on Saturday. The 59-year-old comedian died in the early hours at a private hospital here and he was cremated following a 24-gun salute by Tamil Nadu police while his fans and people bid him tearful adieu. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage across the country, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi asked Centre to lower the COVID vaccine age eligibility to 25 and above. "India has already exported nearly 6.5 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses to other countries. Considering the highest infection rate in the world in our own country, shouldn't vaccine export be held back and priority given to our citizens? Government must reconsider its priority for vaccine candidates by reducing the immunisation eligibility age to 25 and also to those young people with at-risk health disorders like asthma, angina, diabetes, kidney and liver diseases," questioned Congress president.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage across India, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi alleged that BJP ruled states have been receiving preferential treatment in terms of medical equipment. "Some of our chief ministers told me that they were left with a few days of vaccines. They had no oxygen and they were running out of ventilators. But there has been a thundering silence on the part of the government. On the contrary, some other states of interests to the BJP have been receiving preferential treatment in terms of equipment etc," said Congress president.
