Wild bear rescued after falling in 20-foot-deep ditch in eastern India

A wild bear was rescued after falling into a 20-foot-deep ditch in eastern India's Odisha on February 23.

A wild bear was rescued after falling into a 20-foot-deep ditch in eastern India's Odisha on February 23.

Footage shows part of the 10-hour-long rescue operation undertaken by local wildlife officials in the district of Nabarangpur.

It is believed the bear was looking for food and inadvertently plummeted into the ditch.

Villagers soon realised it was stuck at the bottom and alerted the authorities in the forest department.

After the bear's eventual rescue, it was released back into the wild.
