Fort Wayne Artists Guild spreads local art throughout multiple galleries

The Fort Wayne Artists Guild has over 400 pieces of artwork spread throughout three locations in the city: Three Rivers Luxury Apartments, the Allen County Public Library and a new gallery in Jefferson Pointe.

3 artists from around fort wayne are once again seeing their work on display.fort wayne artists guild president john kelty had no shortage of local art to show off in the guild's first public gallery in almost seven months.kelty: i think everybody just wanted to display, wanted to get back out there.standup: the fort wayne artists guild has over 400 pieces of artwork spread throughout three locations in the city.

The three rivers luxury apartments, the allen county public library and here at this gallery in jefferson pointe.kelty: that's the most we've had up at one time that i know of.all of the artwork is for sale, but kelty says money isn't the only reason so many people contributed to the galleries.kelty: there's a sense of comradery too.

Art by its very nature is a solitary process, and this gets you out with people of your own interest, gives you a tribe.

That tribe of guild members took just one week to create the jefferson pointe gallery.

It was unveiled this morning.

The library opened its gallery earlier this week.

Community engagement director stephanny smith hopes it can be another public space to give even more exposure to local artists.

Smith: we have so much talent in this community, so this is a way for us to help them show off their talent, help people discover them.if people like what they see, kelty says wants to keep the jefferson pointe gallery open for as long as it has customers.
