Actor Arun Govil, who played the character of Lord Ram in TV serial Ramayan, joined the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) on March 18 in the national capital.
Govil joined the BJP in presence of party's national general secretary Arun Singh and other leaders.
Govil had rose to fame in the 90s for his role of Lord Ram in the TV epic Ramayan, which was created by Ramanand Sagar.
In the BJP's latest announcement for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, released on Sunday, notable figures from Bollywood and television have emerged as candidates. Kangana Ranaut, renowned Bollywood star, is set to contest from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, while Arun Govil, famed for his role in the Ramayana series, will run from Meerut. This fifth list comprises 111 candidates from 17 States, adding to the diversity of contenders in the electoral race.
