Former Attorney General & Constitutional law expert Soli Sorabjee died on Friday. The 91-year-old veteran lawyer passed away after getting infected with Covid-19. Sorabjee had served as the Attorney General for India from 1989-90 & then from 1998-2004. The Former Attorney General was admitted to a private hospital in South Delhi. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and condoled Sorabjee's demise. VP Venkaiah Naidu, union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, RS Prasad and Smriti Irani also paid their tribute to the former Attorney General. NCP chief Sharad Pawar and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also tweeted and expressed their condolences. Born in 1930, Soli Sorabjee had been honoured with Padma Vibhushan in 2002.

As India battles a second COVID wave, Union Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad called the 2nd wave a 'global phenomenon'. "The second wave of COVID19 is a global phenomenon. What is important is how the government is responding. Till today, around 11 crore doses of vaccine have been administered. It is a satisfactory speed," he said.
The Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu released a commemorative postage stamp in honour of former chief of Brahma Kumaris, Rajyogini Dadi Janki. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was also present at the event. "We should draw inspiration from Dadi's life which was devoted to God and selfless service of humanity. The world needs more healing voices like Dadi Janki ji," said Venkaiah Naidu.
TMC supporters started protesting outside the Raj Bhawan, residence of Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar over the arrests of ministers and TMC leaders. The CBI on Monday launched parallel raids and later arrested TMC heavyweights and ministers Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee and MLA Madan Mitra in its probe on the Narada sting case. Within hours, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached the CBI office.
