A family from Germany watched in horror yesterday (May 4) as the ceiling of their newly renovated home collapsed.

Footage filmed in Hamburg showed the plaster on the ceiling beginning to crack before a huge chunk crashed onto the living room furniture and floor.
"Monday morning in the newly renovated house: after lighting the romantic fireplace the ceiling starts to crack and falls down," said the filmer, who preferred not to be named.
According to the homeowners, only their son saw the funny side.
"So much dirt," he said.
