Boris Johnson has urged the public to exercise caution amid rising Omicron infections but insisted there would be no government enforced closures ahead of Christmas.

A 14-year-old boy killed in a sword attack as he walked to school has been named as Daniel Anjorin. Tributes have been paid to the teenager who has been described as a "much-loved" pupil and a keen footballer. The horrific attack which took place in Hainault, north-east London on Tuesday morning left four more people injured. A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and remains in custody on suspicion of attempted murder after three people were injured at a school in Sheffield. Assistant Chief Constable, Dan Thorpe, urged the public to ârefrain from posting images, footage or speculation on social media as it will be harmful to the investigationâ.

The parents of Grace OâMalley-Kumar have blamed âfailingsâ in the system for a series of stabbing attacks, including a sword attack in Hainault on Tuesday and a school stabbing in Sheffield on Wednesday. Graceâs father, Dr Sanjoy Kumar, said âpositive change is so long overdueâ after a 14-year-old boy was killed in Hainault and three teenage boys were admitted to hospital in Sheffield following the attacks.
