Labour brand Shapps' 'Great British Rail Sale' a 'gimmick'
Shadow Transport Secretary Louise Haigh says the 'Great British Rail Sale' is "little more than a gimmick" and the suggestion that it helps tackle the cost of living crisis is a "slap in the face".
She adds that Transport Secretary Grant Shapps is "very fond" of headlines and "daft videos".

Labour's Louise Haigh has rejected the news that NHS targets are being met. It comes as the health secretary revealed waiting lists have fallen for the fifth month in a row. "Waiting lists are still 320,000 higher than when Rishi Sunak became prime minister so he's failing on his own metrics. A&E waiting times are higher as are ambulance waits," she said. Rishi Sunak has reassured the public following a major data breach at the Ministry of Defence, which impacted a third-party payroll system. "I do want to reassure people the Ministry of Defence has already taken action, removing the network and taking it offline and making sure the people affected are supported in the right way," he said. A Moroccan asylum seeker has been sentenced to life in jail for murder, with a minimum term of 45 years, at Teesside Crown Court. In October last year, 45-year-old Ahmed Alid stabbed Iranian Christian convert Javed Nouri at the house he was sharing with other asylum seekers before looking for more victims in Hartlepool town centre. He then stabbed and killed 70-year-old Terence Carney who was out for his regular early morning walk. Alid told police he had committed his crimes out of “revenge” for Israel killing children in the Palestinian conflict. Report by Jonesia.
