The new study was conducted by researchers with the University of Hawaii and published in 'Nature Climate Change' on Aug.

8.

The study confirms what scientists have speculated for some time -.

That human diseases can be exacerbated by the effects of climate change.

The ongoing emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs) is intensifying numerous climatic hazards of the Earth’s climate system, which in turn can exacerbate human pathogenic diseases, Climate Change Study, via 'Nature Climate Change'.

The ongoing emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs) is intensifying numerous climatic hazards of the Earth’s climate system, which in turn can exacerbate human pathogenic diseases, Climate Change Study, via 'Nature Climate Change'.

The research analyzed data contained in more than 77,000 prior studies.

It describes how climate change affects 375 diseases.

Of the 375 diseases, 218 were found to be significantly affected by such hazards like rising sea levels.

... wildfires.

... and heatwaves.

The study describes four main ways that climate change aggravates infectious diseases.

First, animals that carry diseases are often uprooted by climate change, forcing them to move closer to humans.

Second, the opposite can also occur when humans are uprooted by climate disaster and forced to move closer to animals.

Third, some research suggests that climate change assists viruses in moving from animal to human hosts.

Fourth, climate change can often affect humans in ways that make them less likely to be able to fend off disease
