Suspect in Salman Rushdie stabbing charged with attempted murder, assault
The New Jersey man who allegedly stabbed author Salman Rushdie in the neck and abdomen in western New York was charged with attempted murder and assault.
New York State Police have identified the suspect in the stabbing of author Salman Rushdie as a man from New Jersey. Hadi Matar, 24, of Fairview, Bergen County, was to be arraigned Friday evening.
