NBC News reports that on Aug.

25, Aimee Harris and Robert Kurlander pleaded guilty to stealing the president's daughter's diary.

The theft occurred at a home in Delray Beach.

The thieves also admitted to selling the diary to Project Veritas for $40,000.

NBC News reports Harris was temporarily living at the home where the diary and other items were found.

Tax records and a cellphone were reportedly among some of the other belongings.

The pair reportedly first tried to give the stolen items to the Trump campaign, but it refused the offer and advised turning the items over to the FBI.

Project Veritas accepted the items for $40,000 and deemed the transaction "ethical and legal.".
