Rees-Mogg jokes about rail strikes and his hecklers

Jacob Rees-Mogg congratulates Conservative members for managing to attend the party’s annual conference in Birmingham, “in spite of the best efforts of Mr Mick Lynch”, following a weekend of nationwide rail strikes.

The business secretary thanked audience members for, “giving me almost as warm a welcome as I got outside the hall”.

Mr Rees-Mogg was booed by protesters as he arrived at the conference under police escort.

Rishi Sunak's controversial Rwanda Migrant Bill passed after UK Parliament Marathon | Oneindia

On Monday, the United Kingdom Parliament passed the contentious Rwanda deportation bill, marking a significant step toward its enactment into law. Despite months of opposition from various quarters including Parliament, courts, and civil society, the bill received approval. The primary point of contention had been the concern for the human rights of asylum seekers. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his Conservative party have been vigorously advocating for this legislation. The bill aims to designate Rwanda as a safe third country, compelling judges to consider it as such. Additionally, it seeks to grant decision-makers handling asylum applications the authority to bypass certain provisions of international and domestic human rights laws. This move comes in response to a UK Supreme Court ruling that deems the deportation of migrants to Kigali as illegal. #RwandaMigrantBill #UKParliamentMarathon #RishiSunak #ControversialBill #StopTheBoats #UKImmigration #AsylumSeekers #HumanRights #UKGovernment #Legislation ~PR.152~ED.155~GR.125~HT.96~

Rishi Sunak tears into Labour at a campaign launch event

Rishi Sunak has teared into Labour at a campaign launch at a Derbyshire bus depot this morning by raising the issue of cash-strapped local councils, saying Labour is "unable to balance the books when it is in local government". The prime minister then added “just look what’s happening here, Nottingham Council effectively bankrupt. After having a fire-sale of assets, they still can’t balance the books, in contrast to the extraordinarily well-run Conservative Nottinghamshire County Council". He also said that "whenever Labour runs something, they run it into the ground. In Birmingham, they have effectively bankrupted the largest local authority in Europe. They have saddled their constituents with a 21% council tax rise.” Report by Czubalam. Like us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/itn and follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/itn
