Jacob Rees-Mogg congratulates Conservative members for managing to attend the party’s annual conference in Birmingham, “in spite of the best efforts of Mr Mick Lynch”, following a weekend of nationwide rail strikes.
The business secretary thanked audience members for, “giving me almost as warm a welcome as I got outside the hall”.
Mr Rees-Mogg was booed by protesters as he arrived at the conference under police escort.

This move comes in response to a UK Supreme Court ruling that deems the deportation of migrants to Kigali as illegal.

Rishi Sunak has teared into Labour at a campaign launch at a Derbyshire bus depot this morning by raising the issue of cash-strapped local councils, saying Labour is "unable to balance the books when it is in local government". The prime minister then added “just look what’s happening here, Nottingham Council effectively bankrupt. After having a fire-sale of assets, they still can’t balance the books, in contrast to the extraordinarily well-run Conservative Nottinghamshire County Council".
