Amazon to Hire 250,000 Workers , and Increase Pay Amid Holidays.
On Sept. 19, Amazon announced that it will hire 250,000 people to keep up with the holiday rush, CNBC reports.
That number is significantly
more than the 150,000 workers the
company said it would hire last year. .
This year, seasonal, part-time and full-time warehouse and delivery positions will be available. .
Hourly wages will be between $17 and $28.
Some locations will offer
sign-on bonuses up to $3,000.
Current warehouse and delivery
workers will receive $20.50 an hour.
Amazon announced the increase in wages last week at a conference for "its contracted delivery partner program," CNBC reports. .
The increase in driver wages will
stem from a $440 million investment
into the third-party delivery program.

House Republicans Release Short-Term Bill , to Avoid Government Shutdown.
The bill was released after House Republicans reached a tentative agreement on Sept. 17.
The deal would keep the government
funded until Oct. 31.

to how customers earn rewards and gain
access to the carrier's airport lounges.

as the latest sign that air travel's era of

coverage to all children in the United States.

NBC reports that a woman in North Carolina has filed
a lawsuit against Google after her husband died by
driving off a collapsed bridge following GPS directions.
According to the lawsuit, Philip Paxson died
after driving off of "an unmarked, unbarricaded
collapsed bridge" on September 30, 2022.
His widow, Alicia Paxson, said that her husband
was unaware the bridge had collapsed and was
following Google's out-of-date GPS directions.
NBC reports that the lawsuit, which accuses
Google of negligence, is seeking a jury
trial and does not name a damage amount.
The lawsuit names Google's parent company,
Alphabet, in addition to three people who own
or control the land where the bridge is located. .
In 2013, a large portion of
the Snow Creek Bridge
collapsed and was never repaired.
According to the suit, a woman informed Google that the
bridge was out in 2020 using the "suggest an edit" feature
and was told in an email that the matter was under review. .

from participating in women's sports in
