Suella Braverman Hails Rwanda Asylum Housing After Visit
The Home Secretary Suella Braverman has returned to the House of Commons today to once again defend her controversial migration bill after a trip to Rwanda.
Over the weekend, Braverman took a tour of a possible migrant housing complex in the east African stateās capital, Kigali.
She appeared delighted with the project, despite it still being embroiled in a legal battle, which has seen a total of zero migrant flights land in the country since she announced the plan last year.
Itās already cost the government Ā£140 million.

In a landmark diplomatic moment, DR Congo and Rwanda signed a historic U.S.-brokered peace deal in Washington aimed at ending decades of deadly conflict. President Donald Trump called it a āglorious triumphā while hosting the signing ceremony in the Oval Office, flanked by VP JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The agreement includes ādisengagement, disarmament and conditional integrationā of armed groups and signals potential U.S. access to DR Congoās rare earth minerals. Yet deep questions remaināespecially regarding the M23 rebels, Rwandan troop presence, and humanitarian access. With both countries denying support for rival militias, the full terms remain classified, fueling skepticism.
Trump, however, hailed it as a generational victory. Previous similar treaties have failed. But this deal, supported by earlier Qatari mediation, might offer a sliver of hope in a region long marred by instability and mineral-fueled warfare.
