Visa and Mastercard Settle , Antitrust Suit Over Swipe Fees.
The two companies have reached a settlement with American merchants which could "save consumers tens of billions of dollars," NBC News reports.

Phase One Investigative Maui Wildfire Report , to Be Released Next Month.
ABC reports that seven months after deadly
wildfires devastated Maui, an investigative
report will be released on April 17, 2024.
Hawaii Attorney General Anne Lopez commissioned the
Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI) to conduct an
independent investigation alongside several local agencies.
The first phase of the investigation is meant
to analyze how the disaster unfolded during
the first 24 to 72 hours, as well as its aftermath. .
The report also includes
a comprehensive timeline of events. .
According to the AG's office, the FSRI research
team ran into unexpected delays while
gathering information critical to their review. .
In November of 2023, subpoenas were served to the
Maui Emergency Management Agency, the County
of Maui Department of Public Works and the

Those subpoenas demanded materials relevant
to the investigation, including documents and photos, as well as video and audio recordings.

of the fire incident and our
recommendations to make Hawaiʻi
a safer place to live, work and play, Steve Kerber, Ph.D., PE, vice president and executive director of FSRI, via ABC.

Elon Musk Wants to Reincorporate , Tesla in Texas.
On Jan. 31, a Delaware judge ruled that Musk cannot receive a $56 billion pay package that Tesla granted to him in 2018, CNBC reports. .
The ruling was largely due to the fact that Musk was in control of the board of directors when he received the package.
Musk disagreed with the ruling,
taking to X to say, "Never incorporate
your company in the state of Delaware.".
The Tesla CEO later posed a question
to the public, asking if the company should change its state of incorporation.
It is not yet known when the
shareholder vote will take place.
Columbia Law School professor Eric Talley
told CNBC that Texas makes sense for Tesla.
In addition to its physical headquarters
being there, the state is more lenient about paying CEOs large sums of money.
If reincorporated in Texas, the board could potentially choose to award Musk a "gratitude" bonus, Talley said.
However, the move could be challenged by shareholders who view the change as "a choice made for Musk-selfish reasons," according to Talley

Elon Musk Is Ordered to Give Up , Tesla Pay Worth Billions.
On Jan. 30, a judge in Delaware ruled that the

Musk and Tesla were sued by shareholders after the bonus package was announced.
The shareholders claimed that the

According to Chancery Judge Kathaleen McCormick, the bonus package was over 250 times bigger than average executive pay at the time, .
effectively making it the
largest bonus grant in the history of

The judge referred to the method of building the bonus agreement as "deeply flawed" considering Musk's "enormous influence" over the board. .
