UK’s Sudan evacuation flights to end at 6pm on Saturday
Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden announces that Britain’s evacuation flights from Sudan will cease at 6pm UK time on Saturday 29th April.
Mr Dowden adds: “We will maintain consular support in Sudan, particularly at the exit routes, so both to the north, to the south, and particularly Port Sudan itself.” Report by Jonesia.

The U.S. has imposed new sanctions on Sudan following allegations that Khartoum’s military used chlorine gas during its war with the RSF. The sanctions restrict arms sales, financing, and exports to Sudan’s government for at least one year, though humanitarian aid and agricultural products remain exempt. Washington calls the attacks part of a wider crisis that has killed tens of thousands and displaced 13 million. Sudan’s government denies the claims, calling them “political blackmail.” The U.N. labels Sudan’s war the world’s worst humanitarian disaster, with 25 million in need of food aid.
