Cricket fans react to Stuart Broad’s shock retirement
Spectators arriving at The Oval to watch England’s final Ashes Test against Australia react to last night’s shock announcement that bowler Stuart Broad will be retiring after the series.
While home fans praised his career achievements and “fiery” mode of play, those in the Australian camp were less sad to see him go, claiming he had been “terrorising us for far too long”.

Rishi Sunak faced humiliation on the cricket pitch as he was bowled out during a visit to the Oval. Prince William hosted a garden party at Buckingham Palace on behalf of his father King Charles. The party also included his cousins Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Zara Tindall - accompanied by her husband, Mike - and Peter Philips. The neighbour of a woman who was mauled to death by XL Bully dogs, says she never saw muzzled dogs anywhere on the estate. Aimee Marston said "We've never ever seen an XL Bully. If they were registered, we would have seen muzzled dogs but I've got two ex-racing greyhounds and we walk them all the time and we never ever see muzzled dogs on the estate." The first victims of the infected blood scandal will receive their final compensation payment before the end of the year, minister John Glen has said. In a statement delivered to the House of Commons, Mr Glen said the payments would be exempt from income, capital gains, and inheritance tax.
