Chief Superintendent describes horror of teen’s stabbing
Metropolitan Police Chief Superintendent Andy Brittain described the horror as a 15-year-old girl was stabbed to death in Croydon.
Brittain said: “This is every parent's worst nightmare, and I know the officers who responded this morning, along with our emergency service colleagues, are devastated at the victim's death.”
Emergency services were called to Wellesley Road in Croydon at around 8.30am to reports that the girl had been stabbed.
Both the land and air ambulance attended but she was pronounced dead at the scene 50 minutes later.

Eight men, including seven Iranian nationals, have been arrested in two unconnected counter-terrorism operations, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed.
Five were held over an alleged plot to attack a single premises, while three others were arrested under national security laws. There was no evidence of "two-tier policing" in the police's handling of riots that erupted after last year's Southport murders, a new report by MPs has found. The report by the Home Affairs Committee, published on Monday, examined the police response to disorder that broke out following the stabbings in July last year. A teenager has died after he “got into difficulty” in a lake in south-east London, police said. Officers and paramedics were called to Beckenham Place Park in Lewisham shortly after 3pm on Friday. A 21-year-old criminology student has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 39 years for the murder of Amie Gray and attempted murder of Leanne Miles on Bournemouth beach. Nasen Saadi of Croydon, south London, fatally stabbed the 34-year-old physical trainer and seriously wounded her friend as the pair were enjoying a late-night chat at the Dorset seaside resort on 24th May last year.
