Foreign secretary Lord Cameron said he is "confident" the Rwanda bill will be passed by parliament this week. The legislation which is set to be passed declares Rwanda a safe country - after the Supreme Court blocked an earlier plan in November.
"If you can't send them directly back to France, the best thing to do is find another answer where people who come to Britain in that way can't stay in Britain. That's what the Rwanda plan is all about," Mr Cameron said.

A 14-year-old boy killed in a sword attack as he walked to school has been named as Daniel Anjorin. Tributes have been paid to the teenager who has been described as a "much-loved" pupil and a keen footballer. A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and remains in custody on suspicion of attempted murder after three people were injured at a school in Sheffield. The parents of Grace O’Malley-Kumar have blamed “failings” in the system for a series of stabbing attacks, including a sword attack in Hainault on Tuesday and a school stabbing in Sheffield on Wednesday. Grace’s father, Dr Sanjoy Kumar, said “positive change is so long overdue” after a 14-year-old boy was killed in Hainault and three teenage boys were admitted to hospital in Sheffield following the attacks.
