Reports emerged that a National Emergency will soon be declared in Germany to tackle the issue of illegal immigration. The German government has denied reports claiming Chancellor Friedrich Merz declared a national emergency to tighten border controls. Officials confirmed that Article 72 of the EU Treaty has not been triggered, despite media speculation. Interior Minister Dobrindt did announce stricter border checks and increased migrant rejections, sparking criticism from EU neighbors and legal experts.
