Iran rejects ‘baseless’ US claim about Iran targeting chemical tanker off Indian coast | Oneindia
On December 25, an Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson dismissed the Pentagon's assertion of Iran's involvement in an alleged attack on a chemical ship off the coast of India as "groundless." This response comes in the wake of the United States military accusing Iran of a drone strike on the Japanese-owned chemical tanker MV Chem Pluto, described as "Israel-affiliated." Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson, Nasser Kanaani, addressed the accusations during a briefing, categorically rejecting them as baseless.
He urged Washington to confront allegations related to its involvement in Israel's actions in Gaza instead.
Kanaani characterised the claims as a deliberate effort to deflect public attention and to conceal what he described as the American government's unequivocal support for Israel's actions in Gaza.
A massive wildfire has broken out between Nazareth and Yafa an-Naseriyye in northern Israel, rapidly spreading due to intense heat, dry vegetation, and strong winds. The blaze, which threatened residential neighborhoods, agricultural lands, and commercial zones, prompted an urgent emergency response.
Over 11 firefighting teams and three aircraft were deployed to battle the flames from both ground and air. Israel Police joined efforts to evacuate roads and safeguard critical infrastructure. Fire and Rescue officials confirmed the firefront was halted just meters from the first line of homes, averting a major catastrophe.
