Al Jazeera reports that French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal will implement controls on foreign food products in an attempt to quell ongoing farmer protests.

On January 30, Attal told lawmakers in his general policy speech that, “the goal is clear: guaranteeing fair competition, especially so that regulations that are being applied to farmers are also respected by foreign products.”.

According to Attal, the new law is meant to ensure a fair share of revenue for farmers by fining food retailers who fail to comply.

We need to listen to the farmers, who are working and are worried about their future and their livelihood, Gabriel Attal, French Prime Minister, via Al Jazeera.

The French prime minister said that a coalition of 22 European Union countries had been gathered to agree on a waiver regarding fallow land.

We are close to achieving a new extension of the exemption, Gabriel Attal, French Prime Minister, via Al Jazeera.

Al Jazeera reports that the farmer protests have taken place for days across France in the hopes of putting pressure on the government to take action.

Earlier on January 30, farmers set hay bales on fire and used tractors to block access to Toulouse airport and highways leading to Paris, the capital.

In response, the government has promised to ease environmental regulations and abandoned plans to reduce subsidies on agricultural diesel.

Similar protests have now spread to Belgian, where farmers blocked roads to protest rising costs, cheap food imports and EU environmental regulations.

Meanwhile, farmers in Spain have announced planned protests in February against strict European regulations and an overall lack of support for agriculture by the government

U.S Democrats Clash With Rubio Over Israel’s Bombardment On Journalists | Gaza War Latest

Seventeen U.S. Senate Democrats, led by a Jewish senator, are demanding accountability from Secretary of State Marco Rubio after a deadly Israeli airstrike in Gaza killed six journalists, including prominent Al Jazeera reporter Anas al-Sharif. Lawmakers called the strike part of Israel’s “systematic targeting of journalists,” accusing the Israeli government of silencing media voices exposing Gaza’s devastation. In their letter, the senators urged Rubio to press Israel for transparency, citing violations of international law and warning of risks to U.S. credibility and national security. Israel has claimed al-Sharif was tied to Hamas, but has offered no compelling evidence. The senators argue that targeting journalists is unacceptable and have demanded greater media access inside Gaza. The call underscores rising political pressure in Washington over Israel’s conduct in the war and its treatment of reporters covering one of the world’s most dangerous conflict zones. #Israel #Gaza #Journalists #PressFreedom #MarcoRubio #Democrats #USPolitics #HumanRights #MediaFreedom #AlJazeera #AnasAlSharif #MiddleEast #IDF #WarCrimes #InternationalLaw #FreePress #Washington #Accountability #StopTargetingJournalists #GlobalNews

Watch: HAMAS chief Sinwar Hugging Al-Jazeera Journalists Anas Al-Sharif Killed By Israel

The IDF alleges that slain Al-Jazeera journalist Anas Al-Sharif was an active Hamas military wing operative who received a salary from the terror group while working as a reporter. Documents claim he joined Hamas in 2013, commanded a rocket-launching squad, and advanced attacks on Israeli civilians and IDF troops. His death in Gaza City, along with five other reporters, has drawn international condemnation. The EU has urged Israel to provide “clear evidence,” while Al-Jazeera has yet to respond to the IDF’s claims. #AlJazeera #AnasAlSharif #Gaza #Israel #JournalistsUnderFire #PressFreedom #WarCrimes #GazaStrike #Netanyahu #Hamas #MediaFreedom #BreakingNews #MiddleEast #GazaNews #ShifaHospital #JournalistKilled #FreePress #Palestine #IDF #ConflictZone #GazaWar #HumanRights #CPJ #WarJournalism #MediaCrisis #GazaUpdate #AlJazeeraNews #WarReporting #PressUnderAttack #GazaConflict ~ED.420~HT.408~GR.124~
