On April 17, hundreds of villagers on Ruang Island, North Sulawesi, were ordered to evacuate by Indonesian authorities.

Since the night of April 16, a 2,400-foot volcano known as Mount Ruang "erupted at least five times," CNN reports.

.

Authorities fear that Mount Ruang could collapse into the ocean and trigger a tsunami, just like it did in 1871.

Earthquakes that recently occurred in the area reportedly triggered the eruptions.

.

The force of Mount Ruang’s eruption is getting bigger and has emitted hot clouds of approximately 1.7 kilometers, Hendra Gunawan, the head of Indonesia's volcanology agency, via CNN.

About 800 people live on Ruang Island.

According to authorities, they have evacuated to Tagulandang Island.

.

Officials warn that even those on Tagulandang Island should be aware of possible "falling incandescent rocks and hot cloud surges," CNN reports.

.

There have been no casualties reported thus far.

Indonesia, which sits on the Ring of Fire, has over 120 active volcanoes.

In 2018, Anak Krakatau fell into the sea after erupting and caused a tsunami that killed over 400 people on the Java and Sumatra islands.

How China Is Outsmarting Trump’s 145% Tariffs Using Vietnam | Tariff War Escalates

As Donald Trump hikes tariffs on Chinese goods to an unprecedented 145%, China appears to be outmaneuvering Washington through clever supply chain rerouting. Chinese exports are increasingly flowing through countries like Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia to dodge U.S. tariffs — raising concerns about global trade transparency. Meanwhile, Vietnam records $18.5 billion in net FDI, some of which may be due to this strategic redirection. Trump has vowed more tariff hikes, while Beijing threatens to retaliate, placing ASEAN economies at risk and pushing the global trade system into chaos. #TariffWar #TrumpChina #145PercentTariff #ChinaVietnam #TradeEvasion #USImports #FDIVietnam #GlobalTrade #WTO #TradeTensions #TrumpTariffs #ASEANSupplyChain #China
