Delegates at the Labour conference have voted for a motion to reverse the winter fuel payment cuts. The vote is non-binding but showed an overwhelming majority voted in favour of reversing the decision to axe the benefit for millions of pensioners. A protest was staged at the final day of the Labour conference against the cuts to the winter fuel allowance. Members of Unite chanted "save the winter fuel" at their stand in the conference hall. It comes as the government refuses to U-turn on the cuts amid increasing backlash.

The health secretary has vowed to end "two-tier healthcare" in the NHS in a speech delivered at the Labour conference. Wes Streeting said the NHS has let people down in recent years. "We are the generation that will build a national care service worthy of it's name. That's the change Britain voted for," he said.
