Chu's hit musical adaptation opened to an estimated $114 million domestically, the biggest box office launch of all time for a Broadway adaptation.

This was a landslide victory for Universal considering that the previous record holder, 'Into the Woods,' opened to $31 million.

'Wicked' is also makes the top 5 biggest domestic opening among and the top give global openings for any musical.
