Russia has slammed French President Emmanuel Macron, accusing him of leading a “party of war” in NATO and the EU after he backed tougher sanctions on Moscow over the Ukraine conflict. The Kremlin says France is escalating hybrid warfare and blocking diplomacy by sending Mirage 2000 jets to Kyiv. Kremlin spokesperson Zakharova condemned the sanctions as an illegitimate trade war. Putin demands Ukraine halt mobilization and withdraw from Russian-claimed territories before any meaningful ceasefire talks can begin.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump declared no real resolution can happen in the Russia-Ukraine war unless he meets directly with Vladimir Putin. Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump said Putin wouldn’t attend Turkey talks without him. Ukrainian President Zelensky dismissed Russia’s delegates as “stand-in props” and challenged Putin to a direct meeting without preconditions. As conflict continues, with 168 clashes reported Wednesday, Trump offered to join peace talks if needed. Putin remains non-committal, and Russia’s low-level delegation casts doubt on the Kremlin’s seriousness.
