Trump posted about the tariff on Truth Social, writing in part, "The Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death. Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States." He went on to propose a 100% tariff on any films, quote, "that are produced in foreign lands" and ordered the Commerce Department and U.S. Trade Representative to begin exploring options.
