Iran had reportedly threatened US President Donald Trump against targeting nuclear sites several days before.

According to NBC's report, Iran had communicated to Trump during the G7 summit in Canada last week that it could activate sleeper cells to attack the American homeland in response to a strike on nuclear facilities.
