I-T dept launches tax-evasion probe against social media influencers

The income-tax department in India is investigating social media influencers and content creators on platforms like YouTube and Instagram for allegedly not reporting their income and profits accurately. The department found that these influencers and creators are earning substantial amounts but not disclosing it in their tax returns. Notices have been issued to determine their tax liability.
