Rs 2,000 notes worth Rs 10,000 crore left in system: RBI Governor

IndiaTimes Friday, 20 October 2023
Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das has stated that Rs 2,000 denomination notes are making a comeback, with only Rs 10,000 crore worth of such notes still in circulation. He expressed confidence that this remaining amount will also be returned or deposited back. Earlier this month, Das had revealed that 87% of the Rs 2,000 notes being withdrawn have already been deposited into banks. The RBI had previously announced its plan to phase out the Rs 2,000 note.
