VIL will make significant investments to roll out 5G network, expand 4G coverage: Birla

Vodafone Idea (VIL) plans to invest in rolling out 5G networks and expanding 4G coverage in the coming quarters, according to Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla. The troubled telecom operator aims to strengthen its service capability and offerings with fifth-generation services. VIL has been facing financial difficulties and subscriber losses as its competitors Jio and Bharti Airtel gain ground in the 5G market. Birla also highlighted the importance of India's digital ecosystem and expressed commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision. VIL reported a widening net loss of INR 8,737.9 crore ($1.18 billion) in Q2 2023.
